BIO:

Janice Lacy is an award-winning composer and pianist based in Southern California. Janice is known for her calming, melodic piano compositions, often accompanied by rich acoustic instrumentation.

Janice’s current releases in 2026 are the singles Beside You (April, 2026), Sunset at Shaw’s Cove (May, 2026) and Embraced (July, 2026). Janice composed each piece and is featured on piano, joined by Grammy®-winning artists Charlie Bisharat on violin and Eugene Friesen on cello, and Jill Haley on English horn. For these releases, Janice collaborated with Grammy®-nominated artist Tom Eaton and Grammy® winner Will Ackerman (Founder, Windham Hill Records), who produced the music.

Her award-winning album Dreaming of Daybreak (2023) features her compositions for solo piano and piano with instrumentation. For this recording, Janice collaborated with Grammy®-winning artists Charlie Bisharat on violin and Eugene Friesen on cello; Jill Haley on English horn; and Grammy®-nominated Tony Levin on bass. The album was also produced by Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton, and recorded at Imaginary Road Studios. In 2023, Dreaming of Daybreak reached #1 (tied) on the Zone Music Reporter chart; and also reached #2 on the One World Music Radio (OWMR) Top 100 Album Chart – staying in the top ten of that chart for five months. Janice received two Global Music Awards for the album and an InterContinental Music Award for the piece Abiding (Reprise), among other awards (2024). Music from the album has frequently been featured on SiriusXM Spa and global instrumental radio programs. Producer Will Ackerman has called the album “…simply a fine work of art.”

In 2021, Janice released a very successful single entitled “Catalina” from the EP of the same name, recorded by the Janice Lacy Project featuring Eden Perez. Janice co-wrote all the songs on the EP, which was produced by Jeff Carruthers (10 Billboard smooth jazz #1’s). The single release Catalina was prominently played by SiriusXM Watercolors and smooth jazz stations nationwide.

In 2016, Janice collaborated with several of Southern California’s top musicians to create the Janice Lacy Project. Her first album, Sanctuary for the Soul by the Janice Lacy Project, featured her compositions in New Age and gentle jazz, with performances by piano, cello and ensemble. The album was produced by Grammy®-nominated artists Rob Mullins, and Greg Scelsa as consulting producer. The album reached #8 on the ZMR chart, and reached #5 in the OWMR chart and spent seven consecutive months on that chart. The title track, Sanctuary for the Soul, was a finalist for “Track of the Year 2016” by OWMR. The album Sanctuary for the Soul was also nominated for “Best Piano with Instrumentation Album of 2016” by OWMR in 2017.

Janice began playing piano when she was 3 years old. She studied piano formally for ten years, including classical repertoire, jazz and theory with distinguished teacher and performer Joe Weisberg (Eric Leinsdorf). Inspired by the coastline of Southern California, her music is deeply personal and influenced by the natural beauty around her. Janice’s music has been featured on SiriusXM Spa and SiriusXM Watercolors and can be found on all the major music platforms. She is a Voting Member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), and is a Writer and Publisher member of BMI.
